The Western Benton County Partnership (WBCP) has demonstrated unwavering support for the families and business impacted by the devastating storms and tornadoes that struck the area in May. Through a dedicated fundraising effort, WBCP successfully raised $82,500 to aid tornado relief in Western Benton County. These funds have been instrumental in providing meals, supplies, and debris removal for affected families.
This achievement was made possible through the generous contributions of organizations such as the Accelerate Foundation and the McKee family. Additionally, WBCP continues to collaborate with local stakeholders, including Simmons Foods, Walmart, First Baptist Church of Decatur, and Falling Springs Church of Decatur, to ensure comprehensive support for the community.
On May 27, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders led a federal and state delegation for an in-depth review of the damage, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts in disaster response. “No matter what difficulties come our way, the moments that we think are going to break us ultimately show our strength,” said Governor Sanders. “The strength of our state continues to be where it has always been, and that’s with our people.”
“Our hearts break for this tragedy; families and friends have been taken from us, businesses destroyed, and now we have the responsibility of helping our neighbors piece their lives back together,” Tyler Dees, Executive Director of WBCP, said. “While we grieve the destruction, we are proud to be a unified force to help our communities begin the healing process in Western Benton County and beyond.”
