Statement Regarding Infrastructure Study

March 2, 2026 by Joyce

The Western Benton County Partnership (WBCP) supports strategic infrastructure planning that strengthens communities and supports responsible regional growth.

As part of our Infrastructure focus area, WBCP supports a privately funded feasibility study to evaluate long-term transportation solutions related to the proposed I-42 interstate corridor. The purpose of the study is to assess projected growth patterns, traffic volumes, safety considerations, and potential funding models that could accelerate completion of a new highway system intended to serve future transportation needs.

WBCP does not support tolling on any existing roads. The feasibility study examines whether alternative funding mechanisms for a new corridor could improve safety, reduce congestion in local communities, and enhance economic connectivity across the region.

The initiative to conduct this study was supported by local and county leadership across Benton County and the Regional Planning Commission. Studies of this nature are designed to gather data, inform public discussion, and provide objective analysis to decision-makers. Any future infrastructure decisions would ultimately rest with the Arkansas Highway Commission following standard review and public input processes.

WBCP recognizes that infrastructure planning can raise important questions for residents and businesses. Our goal is to ensure that policy and decision makers have accurate, up-to-date information when evaluating long-term transportation needs that affect workforce mobility, economic development, and community safety.

We remain committed to transparent engagement and welcome thoughtful dialogue as our region continues to grow.
